Yoga Philosophy

The physical practice of yoga, the asanas, are but a facet of the whole. The word yoga, a sanskrit word which loosely translates as "union", can and should reflect a way of living which extends way beyond the realms of your asana practice.

One of the core values and benefits of a regular, dedicated asana practice is that it offers you a way to connect to the deeper aspects of yoga within the realms of the physical body. Almost immediately as you develop your practice you will come into a much deeper relationship with, firstly, the physical body. Your connection to your breath will become stronger and stronger, you will find the movement flowing from the breath and become more aware of their inseperability. They will become one. Your mind empties, you connect to your essence.

In the meantime, your body will become stronger, more supple, more vital and alive. You will feel the blessings of your practice extending into your life way beyond the time you dedicate to your asanas. Your consciousness expands, your awareness deepens, your life changes. Your practice becomes a sacred journey, a joyful expression of devotion, exploration and deep surrender.

The journey is lifelong. You continually adapt in the ways that life asks of you. In the flow of your practice you find the flow of your life, the natural rhythm. Embrace and revel in the journey every step of the way.
